Spencer appoints municipal judge, names committee for maintenance building and hears water-project updates

On Feb. 27 the Spencer City Council appointed Brandon Griffin as municipal judge after a special-called interview process held Feb. 20. Vice Mayor Drew Campbell moved the motion to appoint Griffin and Alderman Darrell Nance seconded; the roll call vote was four in favor with Alderman Blankenship absent.
Mayor Farmer also announced the appointment of a planning and oversight committee for a future maintenance/storage building, naming Dennis Slatton, Leland Bouldin, Chad Moffit, Darrell Nance and Jerry Blankenship; the council recorded the committee appointments and took no formal vote. Justin Aughinbaugh was noted to replace David Cook on the Economic Development and Tourism Council; no board action was required for that appointment.
In project updates, Mr. Green reported a pre-construction conference for JCH held Feb. 27, state approval to reject CDBG project bids, a pre-construction conference for an intermediate pump station, and a March 18 bid opening for a sedimentation basin at the water-treatment plant. The meeting adjourned following a motion by Alderman David Chandler, seconded by Vice Mayor Drew Campbell.
