The Demorest Downtown Development Authority on March 25 approved up to $900 for materials for a fence beside Bangkok Bistro and adopted an updated district map that expands the DDA’s boundary to include properties adjacent to Highway 441. Directors also discussed a potential new parking area estimated at $9,000.
Rebecca Brantley, a member of the Demorest Downtown Development Authority, moved to approve up to $900 for materials for a fence beside Bangkok Bistro; Patti Davis seconded. The motion was recorded as unanimously approved by the directors in attendance.
Patti Davis moved to adopt the revised district map, which the minutes note includes properties adjacent to Highway 441 to expand the DDA’s scope and create more opportunities for local business owners. Shawn Allen seconded; that motion was also unanimously approved.
On parking, the board reviewed preliminary dimensions and cost estimates for a proposed 92-by-25-foot concrete area intended to yield as many as 10 parking spaces (calculations based on 9-foot-wide stalls). The minutes list an estimated project cost of $9,000 and state the DDA is awaiting a final response from a concrete contractor. Directors identified next steps as conducting a full cost analysis once additional contractor details are available and discussed possible enhancements including additional accessible (handicap) spaces and a designated pick-up zone for restaurant take-out orders.
The meeting began at 4:40 p.m. and was adjourned at 5:31 p.m. The minutes record the meeting attendance as Jim Welborn, Patti Davis, Christie Ryals, Kari Goemans, Rebecca Brantley and Shawn Allen.
