At its Jan. 6 meeting the St. Martinville council voted to transfer administration of the city’s Section 8 housing program to St. Martin Parish Government effective July 1, 2025. The minutes record the motion as carried unanimously.
The council also terminated the position of Section 8 Administrator effective immediately and authorized the mayor to enter into an agreement with Jennifer Tyler to provide consulting services for the Section 8 program at $25 per hour through July 1, 2025. The council further approved allowing Constance Boudreaux to work limited hours (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) on Section 8 matters at $25 per hour; compensation for the additional hours will come from Section 8 funds, according to the minutes.
The minutes do not include the detailed transfer agreement between the city and St. Martin Parish Government, timelines for client transition, client-notice language, or specific funding-account adjustments; those operational details are expected to be developed in follow-up by staff and the receiving parish office.
