The St. Martinville Mayor and City Council on Dec. 2 hired accounting consultant Billy Guidry to assist the Accounting and Utilities Departments and approved two staff employment-status changes following an executive session.
The consultant hire was approved unanimously after the council reconvened from executive session. The council directed that Mr. Guidry provide updates every two weeks on services rendered and planned work for the departments.
The personnel actions approved included changing Derek Fontenette from Seasonal Grass Crew (pay grade 103, $10.00 per hour) to full-time Laborer Floater (pay grade 106, $13.00 per hour), and changing Mayor's Court Clerk Dana Chevalier from part-time (pay grade 107, $13.10 per hour) to full-time (pay grade 107 + 1%, $13.89 per hour). All three personnel motions were carried by unanimous vote after the executive session.
Council members said these changes were administrative in nature and directed staff to provide the biweekly consultant reports but there was no further public discussion about the terms beyond what was recorded in the minutes.
The council also voted unanimously to hold only one meeting in December and cancelled the Dec. 16 meeting.
The meeting record shows the votes were made by motion and second and carried without recorded dissent; the minutes list attending officials and indicate no absences.
