The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board on Dec. 8 voted to interview applicants before selecting a superintendent and chose two applicants to be interviewed.
The board approved a motion to interview applicants prior to hiring. In a subsequent motion the board authorized interviews of Rebecca Johnson and Esrom Pitre as the two applicants to be interviewed. The board drew names to determine order and set interviews for Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, beginning at 4:30 p.m., with Rebecca Johnson scheduled first and Esrom Pitre to follow. The board also approved the interview format: a 10-minute opening statement by each candidate, five board questions (randomly selected), and a 10-minute closing statement. The board authorized Hammonds & Sills to provide questions at the time of the interviews.
Motions were recorded as carried by roll call. Public comment on the superintendent process was recorded prior to votes.
