Pasco County schools earn A district rating; no D or F schools reported

Pasco County has earned an A district rating for the first time since 2008, and for the first time since 2004 no schools in the county received D or F ratings, a presenter said.

The presenter said 17 schools improved to an A and seven schools moved up to a B. The announcement singled out New River Elementary School, Gulfside Elementary School and Gulf Middle School for improving from a D rating to an A rating in the same year; the presenter described that outcome as the first time in Florida's modern grading history that three schools from the same district made that leap in a single year.

“These outcomes are not just data points. They reflect real classrooms, real students, and real neighborhoods where learning is taking place every day,” the presenter said, crediting teachers, school leaders, support staff, families and community partners for the district’s progress. The presenter added that students demonstrated persistence and growth across Pasco.

The presenter also outlined areas the district seeks to strengthen, naming expansion of career and technical education pathways, improving academic achievement across subjects, and revamping science instruction. He or she said the goal is to ensure every student, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to reach their potential.
