Parks and public-works updates: youth baseball, splash-pad work, diesel odor traced to utility manhole

Mr. Wilson reported the Splash Pad renovation will start soon and that applications are being accepted for the maintenance position that will support the facility. Separately, Mr. Stewart said workers had smelled diesel near Exit 4 and traced the odor to a manhole owned by Old Dominion; according to the minutes the company is working to locate and fix the problem.
Public-works updates included a reminder from Mr. Rednour that pothole repairs are ongoing and that the street department's leaf pickup ended on Feb. 27, 2026; residents were asked to bag leaves. Recorder Alyson P. Susong provided monthly financial statements and said she will circulate possible dates for an all-day budget work session.
Next steps: parks staff will proceed with the splash-pad renovation and staffing, and Old Dominion is working to remediate the diesel source. The minutes do not provide a projected completion date for the renovation or a remediation timeline for the diesel odor.
