The White Pine Town Council approved a series of routine but substantive items during its April 7 meeting, including a donation, a public-works contract and two personnel hires.
The council unanimously approved the March 3, 2026 meeting minutes on a motion from Mrs. Walker, seconded by Mrs. Voiles; Mr. Woods asked that his name be corrected from "Wood" to "Woods" in two places. On a motion from Mr. Woods, seconded by Mr. Marshall, the council unanimously accepted a 2015 Ford Explorer donated to the Fire Department by Sevierville at no charge.
The council awarded the town's paving contract to Newport Paving at $148.50 per ton after a motion from Mr. Marshall, seconded by Mrs. Walker; the transcript records Harrison Paving as the other bidder at $191 per ton. The council also unanimously authorized the Mayor to sign the latest version of the change order on a motion from Mrs. Voiles and second from Mr. Marshall.
Personnel actions included unanimous approval to hire Scott Gibson for the Recreation Maintenance position (motion by Mr. Woods, second by Mrs. Arwood) and to hire Michael Hall for the water department (motion by Mrs. Voiles, second by Mr. Woods). Later in the meeting, on a motion from Mr. Marshall, seconded by Mrs. Arwood, the council unanimously voted to pay the town's bills.
The transcript records monthly reports from Chief Cotter and Chief Layman but does not provide those report details in the minutes. The council set an all-day budget work session for April 24, 2026 and made community announcements (yard sale April 18; no bingo in April).
