The Town Council on Jan. 6 unanimously approved two ordinances on second and final reading and handled routine administrative business.
Ordinance #8-25, which amends the town’s food truck ordinance, passed after a motion from Mrs. Arwood and a second from Mrs. Walker. Ordinance #9-25, amending the alcoholic beverage tax, passed on a motion from Mr. Marshall with a second from Mrs. Voiles. Both ordinances were approved by roll-call votes, recorded as unanimous.
The council also approved Path Construction Change Order #20 on a motion from Mrs. Walker, seconded by Mrs. Arwood, but placed a contingency on payment: funds will not be released until Rural Development certifies a final payment is warranted. The minutes from the Dec. 2, 2025 meeting were approved on a motion from Mr. Marshall and a second from Mr. Woods.
Other motions approved unanimously included authorization for the mayor to negotiate easements on recently purchased property and to inquire about a 40-acre tract adjoining that property (motions from Mr. Woods, seconded by Mrs. Voiles), a vote to proceed with a Splash Pad renovation bid (motion from Mrs. Walker, seconded by Mrs. Arwood), and the payment of the town’s bills (motion from Mr. Woods, seconded by Mr. Marshall). The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
The council recorded each action as unanimous; specific roll-call tallies were not provided in the meeting record.
