Deep River fire marshal reports 39 calls; new engine chassis on schedule for August, brush truck delayed

At the June 1 meeting of the Deep River Board of Fire Commissioners, Fire Marshal Adam Kerop told the board the department responded to 39 calls over the past two months, including fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents, carbon monoxide calls, downed wires, hazardous materials responses, EMS assists, a vehicle fire, smoke investigations (including a dryer fire), a brush fire, and mutual aid calls.
Kerop said he is finalizing the Bracero expansion project and reported that Piano Works has agreed to make improvements to its fire alarm and sprinkler systems. He also reported issuance of 17 burn permits and two blasting permits in the reporting period.
Chief Tim Lee provided equipment updates: the new engine chassis remains on schedule for August delivery, but the brush truck will be delayed because of painting. Chairman David Berardis agreed to follow up with Town Hall about payment timing when the engine chassis is ready for delivery.
Deputy Chief Kerop also said the department has been conducting basic training evolutions in Chester and hosted outside instructors at the firehouse for a fire behavior class. Chief Lee noted a community outreach event: Valley Regional High School's "Warriors in the Community Day," during which students helped clean trucks.
The board recorded no disputed findings or formal actions related to calls, permits, or equipment at this meeting. The meeting then moved to routine adjournment.
