The Board of Selectmen on May 26 handled a series of routine town actions including committee appointments, grant referrals and event updates.
Appointments: The Board voted 3–0 to forward Juanita Figueroa for the Community Health Committee (term to December 1, 2026) and to forward Lori Sanfratello for the Economic Development Commission (term to December 1, 2027). Motions were made and seconded on the record and approved unanimously.
Grants: The Board moved to forward a Neighborhood Assistance Act grant application from Deep River Congregational Church to Town Meeting. The Board noted that the church's application would fund energy-efficiency improvements (insulation and drafty window repairs) and would not require town funding. Additional applicants mentioned included the Deep River Housing Authority and Tri-Town Youth Services.
Committees and events: The Board approved forming a seven-member Arts and Cultural Committee (motion by Carol Jones, second by Cynthia Torres; vote 3–0). The 250th Anniversary Committee reported distribution of a program postcard, creation of a new anniversary website, and plans for a band performance on June 11; the Board also announced RFPs for road paving, summer concerts beginning in July, a sixth-grade walkathon on June 9, and a pending Winthrop sign electrical connection with Eversource.
