The Darien Beautification Commission reviewed plans for a 250th celebration flag order and the commissions outreach strategy at the May 13 meeting.
Commissioners discussed an assumed total cost of $5,597.76 for the flags and considered moving the payment into the July budget. David Genovese ordered mounting brackets; Heather Raker is overseeing the 250-flag effort and is reported to have ordered 80 special celebration flags and 150 regular flags. Members agreed the flags should be installed after the baskets are hung, and that older flags could be used temporarily if necessary.
On outreach, Danielle Seitz will create and link a new Instagram account to the commissions Gmail and Outlook; Chair Sarah Schwarz will share access credentials with members. The website will be updated at a later date.
Next steps: finalize timing for payment in the July budget, confirm bracket and flag deliveries, and launch the Instagram account to support outreach and volunteer coordination.
