East Hampton commission discontinues Aquaflex, approves Everblu watershed repairs and to draft treatment-plan letter

The Town of East Hampton Conservation–Lake Commission voted 7–0 on May 14 to discontinue deployment of Aquaflex in tributaries leading to the lake and to approve selected watershed repairs recommended by contractor Everblu for not to exceed $11,600, including location 5 on Bay Road.
Chairman Jason Hartling moved both motions. The Aquaflex motion was seconded by John Purple; the Everblu repairs motion was seconded by Robert Hart. Both motions passed unanimously. Earlier in the meeting members discussed a larger recommendation for four sites estimated at $86,000 and a separate estimate of $1,750 from Belltown Motors for a single repair site; the commission chose the Everblu package capped at $11,600.
Members also discussed aquatic invasive species funding and recent legislation intended to permit rapid-response AIS funding; the bill passed in an unfunded form and the commission noted no response yet from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Commissioners discussed budgeting $24,900 for hydrilla treatments in a future budget year (2027/2028) but did not place that amount in the upcoming fiscal year budget at this meeting.
The commission voted 7–0 to have Chuck Yenkner draft a letter to the Town Manager reinforcing the commission’s decision to remain with the treatment plan the members had set up. Mr. Yenkner will prepare the letter for review by the commission.
