He said long-term facility maintenance includes health-and-safety work (lead testing, OSHA training) and mechanical-systems spending estimated at $628,000, much of it for a dust-collection system to be installed in the career and technical education (CTE) shop.
Rick also updated the board on two active projects at the high school. Contractors recently shut down rooftop air-conditioning units and drained refrigerant as part of chiller-related work; some refrigerant (R22) will be retained for reuse at the high school, while other refrigerants will be disposed of. He said both the chiller project and the CTE dust-collection installation are on track to finish before the start of the school year.
The board voted to approve the FY27 capital budget (motion by Jen; second by Melissa). The motion carried.
Why it matters: the capital plan funds routine technology refreshes and safety-related facility work that the district says are necessary to maintain operations and support CTE programming. The dust-collection system is specifically intended to improve shop air quality and safety for CTE students.
