Select Board approves election worker appointments, Q & L Food Company license and event permits
Summary
The Select Board appointed a registrar and several election workers, noted a state program for hiring under-18 poll workers, and approved a Common Victualler license for Black Cat Breakfast and Bakery plus permits for a May 2 one-day liquor event and a September half marathon.
At its April 14 meeting the Cohasset Select Board approved several routine appointments and licenses.
Town Clerk Leisa Legge said many long-time election workers have retired and explained a new state program allowing each town to hire up to two workers under 18 with parental permission; the board discussed recruitment and then appointed Michelle Antico to the Board of Registrars for a three-year term ending May 30, 2029. The board also approved one-year election worker appointments for Deborah Cook, Linda Glavin, Andrea Hiller, Carol Ryan, Lauren Collins, Molly Irwin and Cindy Matheison.
On consent motions, the board approved a Common Victuallers license for Q & L Food Company d/b/a Black Cat Breakfast and Bakery at 166b King Street; a one-day wine and malt liquor license for Untold Brewing for a Holly Hill Farm kickoff event on May 2, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; a Three Beach Minimum ½ Marathon permit for Sept. 26, 2026; and use of the Town Common for senior banners from May 8 to June 8, 2026.
All listed motions were moved by Select Member Paul Grady, seconded by Select Member Chris Plecs and recorded as "All in Favor—Aye." The board also reminded residents of Annual Town Meeting on May 4 and Town Election on May 9.
