Interim Town Manager Michelle Leary told the board that the Water Enterprise Fund had been adjusted from $6,069,911 to $5,959,488 because certain indirect costs were incorrectly included in the earlier figure. Leary said counsel advised rescinding the earlier approval and revoting with the corrected enterprise number.
Select Member Paul Grady moved to rescind the earlier vote on Article 4; Select Member Chris Plecs seconded and the motion passed with the board voting "Aye." The board then approved the revised Article 4 budget to reflect the reduced Water Enterprise Fund.
The board framed the change as an accounting correction rather than a programmatic cut. Chair Ellen Maher said the adjustment came after the Select Board and Advisory recommended moving Appendix A forward and that the Water Commissioner’s update required a formal revote.
The action is procedural: the revised budget was adopted by unanimous vote at the meeting, and the Select Board did not identify additional cuts or program changes tied to the enterprise reduction at that time. Next procedural steps will follow the town’s customary warrant and town meeting schedule.
