The Dennis Beach Committee unanimously approved a flyer for the town’s Sand Sculpture Contest and set the event for Sunday, Aug. 2, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Mayflower Beach.
Committee members agreed to add a pre-registration link to the poster and discussed promotion strategies, including social media posts, vendor signage recognizing donors, realtor outreach to short-term renters and inclusion in the Cape Cod Guide by the Dennis Chamber. Maggie McCormick of the Friends of Dennis Recreation will solicit prizes on behalf of the group.
The committee approved the flyer by voice vote (motion by Mary Marvullo; second by H. Savicki) and asked staff to include notice of the contest at the end of the beach season education video. The committee also discussed whether a rain date was needed and concluded that Sunday was preferable because Saturdays are changeover days for short-term rentals.
Organizers plan to provide the committee with final promotional materials and a pre-registration link for distribution to local stakeholders and on town channels.
