ACD to back Sesuit Harbor accessibility upgrades; project cited as $7 million with $1.5 million grant

Town staff presented the proposed Sesuit Harbor redevelopment to the Advisory Committee on Disabilities on April 6, describing accessibility improvements and flood-protection work tied to a broader harbor project.
Greg Rounsevile, assistant town administrator, and Conor Smith, interim harbormaster, described the project as having a total projected cost of about $7 million and said the town has received a $1.5 million grant from the Seaport Economic Council to help offset costs. Rounsevile told the committee the project would include “significant improvements to address accessibility issues — not just an upgrade for the Harbormaster,” and said plans would be made available to the committee for review. Town Meeting approval in May 2026 was identified as the next formal decision point; presenters described a tentative groundbreaking in January 2027 if the project is approved.
Committee members voted unanimously to write a letter of support that reiterates the ACD's commitment to accessibility in the project; Grethe Kaeselau agreed to attend a future Select Board meeting to recommend the project and restate committee support. Members also requested that full project plans be provided to the committee for review prior to further action.
The ACD will circulate a draft letter of support and expects to review Sesuit Harbor plans before Town Meeting in May.
