Bolton P&Z recommends temporary town office structure and library patio to selectmen

At its July 12 meeting the Bolton Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed two statutorily required 8-24 referrals and recommended both projects to the Board of Selectmen by unanimous votes.

Patrice Carson summarized an 8-24 referral for a temporary office structure to be erected in front of the Notch Road Municipal Center at 104 Notch Road. The proposed temporary building would sit on stone pile piers, contain a mix of single and multiple workstations, include two restrooms and an accessible ramp, and require relocation of utilities serving the portion of the existing building slated for removal. Commissioner Tom Crockett moved the commission’s recommendation and Commissioner Rodney Fournier seconded; the motion carried by roll call vote 7–0–0. The commission found the project consistent with the Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD).

The commission also reviewed an 8-24 referral to construct an approximately 900-square-foot concrete patio at the rear of the Bentley Memorial Library, 206 Bolton Center Road, to be used for ADA-accessible outdoor programming. Commissioner Tom Crockett moved the recommendation; Commissioner Kawan Gordon seconded and the motion carried 7–0–0.

Both recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for action under Connecticut General Statutes Section 8-24. Staff said utilities and site details will be addressed in later implementation work if the Selectmen approve the projects.
