Tega Cay Utilities director says water, sewer base rates will rise; council hears July 1 start date

Maturo said the most predominant change would be the water base rate, increasing from $11.81 to $19.14; the water volume metric rate would rise from $8.31 to $8.97, and the sewer base rate would move from $19.14 to $20.67. He said the fee increases are scheduled to take effect July 1, 2026. "We now have to pass some of that cost on to the residents," Maturo said.
Maturo also reported that all customers have upgraded smart meters and that the cost of bypass pumps and other capital items will be funded in part by impact fees. Councilmembers asked about notification plans; staff said they will notify residents of the changes before the July 1 effective date.
