At its meeting the Lamar County School Board approved several routine but consequential items by voice vote.
Motions approved included the consent agenda and the minutes for the Aug. 12 and Aug. 23, 2024 meetings. The board also voted to remain with its current workers' compensation carrier after a brief presentation and unanimously rejected a bid for a walk-in freezer, opting instead to hold a new reverse auction.
The board approved changes to multiple district policies (policy codes were read into the record) and unanimously authorized staff to advertise for bids for a bus-mounted student ridership/ID monitoring system.
At the close of the public session, the board moved into executive session to consider four student matters and two personnel matters and to receive a safety update from the SRO.
Votes recorded in the public record were taken by motion, second and unanimous voice vote; the transcript records unanimous approval on these motions but individual roll-call tallies were not included in the public portion of the record.
