The council reviewed 95 applications and recommended funding for the majority of eligible general‑operating and project requests, distributing about $2.317 million for Adams County organizations this cycle.
Why it matters: SCFD disbursements support local arts and culture organizations’ operations and programming; recommended awards will fund performances, educational programs and community arts projects across the county and partner jurisdictions.
The council recommended funding 20 of 21 general‑operating applicants (allocation based on an earned‑revenue formula), 132 of 139 project requests, and all three visual‑arts project requests represented in the packet. Staff said the recommendations reflect scoring on a universal rubric and alignment with county guidelines and that some awards fund organizations that bring Adams County residents to programs outside the county or otherwise serve a county share of participants.
Commissioners asked for better ways to show geographic distribution and impact—staff committed to work with GIS and communications to produce maps and impact summaries that illustrate where award dollars serve county residents, which staff said will help explain SCFD’s value ahead of future reauthorization efforts.
Next steps: Staff will present the recommended award list at a July public hearing and then submit approved recommendations into the SCFD approval process for final adoption.
