Corning school board approves teacher and coach contracts, fees and tech purchases

The Corning Community Schools Board of Education on June 16 approved multiple personnel contracts, district fees and technology purchases and authorized interim bill payments because of the fiscal year end.
The board approved a 2025–2026 contract for Bonnie Goodson-Gibeau to serve as elementary and high school music teacher and approved Micayla Vanderhoof as the 2025–2026 high school tennis coach. The board also approved a 2024–2025 contract with Lisa Sparks to serve as high school mentor. Voting on the Sparks contract was recorded as Yes: Howard Anderson, Stephanie Hodapp, Trent Roberts and Staci Venteicher; Adam Boswell abstained.
The board voted unanimously to adopt the 2025–2026 school fees as presented and to approve the district's 2025–2026 technology purchases as outlined by Brandon Templeton. Separately, the board approved a $40,000 quote from FMTC for fiber-optic installation to support district technology needs.
The board also approved a 2025–2026 memorandum of understanding with Matura Head Start and approved the 2025–2026 SWCC Handbook and Course Catalog as presented. The board decided not to pursue the Storm Protection Fund insurance.
Because the fiscal year is ending, the board authorized the board secretary to pay bills through the end of June 2025; that motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was called to order by Board President Staci Venteicher and included Superintendent Chris Fenster, Board Secretary Jodi Lyddon and other administrators and visitors.
