The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors on June 23 adopted Resolution #06-23-26-02 to implement a new wage scale and longevity schedule effective July 1, 2026. Motion by Kyle Stecker and second by Amber Garman carried unanimously. The resolution provides a .05/year longevity increment and sets starting wages and probationary increases for multiple position scales (for example: clerks/support staff starting wage $42,848/year; custodians $24.10/hour starting wage; victim witness coordinator $45,320/year starting wage).
During the same meeting the board approved several personnel and compensation items: motion by Garman and second by Waechter set the starting salary for the new HR/GR Administrator at $72,500; motion by Waechter and second by Garman set the starting salary for the new IT Director at $128,000. Both motions carried unanimously.
The board also considered the county employee handbook vacation schedule. A motion by Supervisor Kyle Stecker to include Secondary Roads staff in the same courthouse vacation schedule column failed for lack of a second. Later, a motion by Chairman Carter Nath and second by Amber Garman approved the updated Employee Handbook Vacation Schedule 3.2A as presented. The roll call vote was Waechter: yes; Garman: yes; Stecker: no; Haas: yes; Nath: yes (4-1).
The wage-scale resolution states current employees will be moved to the new schedule on July 1, 2026, and directs periodic updates to the scale as the board approves future increases.
