At the Dec. 17 meeting, Board Chair Wall summarized the Building & Site committee meeting of Dec. 15, reporting completed infrastructure work and plans for forthcoming installations and cost estimates.
The committee reported an HVAC cutover and an additional power line completed for select sites and plans to perform an AC test run in spring on a non‑school day to avoid disruption. Playground awnings were installed with vendor adjustments scheduled for spring; obstacle‑course equipment for Bedford is on site and will be installed when weather permits, followed by wood‑chip surfacing. The committee reported approximately $90,000 remaining in former building‑and‑site funds but noted that projected new building‑and‑site levy receipts are about $1.3 million per year for 10 years; the first half of that revenue is expected Oct. 31, 2026, and the second half April 30, 2027. Chair Wall said cost estimates for high‑school pool lighting, pumps and ventilation are pending and funding sources will be determined after invoices and estimates are finalized.
Superintendent Klein delivered district operational updates: staff monitored forecasts for possible school cancellation due to rain, standing water and overnight refreeze; he praised a recent professional‑development day focused on curriculum and trauma‑informed practices; he said the district MTSS team completed a first draft of the district MTSS handbook to be launched in the second semester; and he noted submission of a United Way summer‑discovery grant that would fund an expanded, all‑day summer enrichment program if awarded. Klein also highlighted holiday donations and student achievements in theater and athletics.
The committee and administration noted that project timing depends on final invoices and receipt of levy funds; trustees and community members expressed interest in remaining involved with committee work in 2026.
