Policy reviews: Trustees approved first readings of proposed NEOLA board policies (volume 40, number one) covering curriculum, nondiscrimination and other updates and a separate set of nondiscrimination/employment/anti-harassment policy updates. Staff explained NEOLA’s effort to streamline policies and make technical corrections following changes at the Office for Civil Rights.
Donation: The board approved a $1,000 donation from the general fund to the Annapapolis High School senior all-night graduation party scheduled for June 4, 2026; trustees confirmed the amount matched prior practice and that funds will come from the general fund.
Schools of Choice and administrative items: The board voted to participate in the Schools of Choice program for the second semester of the 2025–26 year, permitting up to five nonresident openings in each grade from 6–11; the open-enrollment window was set for Jan. 5–30, 2026. Trustees also set the district’s annual organizational meeting for Jan. 7, 2026, at OW Best Middle School.
Conference travel: The board approved trustee attendance at the NSBA annual conference in San Antonio and the NSBA advocacy conference in Washington, D.C., and clarified that the district cap of $2,500 covers registration, travel, room and board, and meals per person.
