Policy committee moves district social‑media policy to Feb. 19 vote, flags AI language for review

Mrs. Romanition, chairing the policy committee, said she reviewed PSBA model language at a recent legal conference and recommended adopting that framework. "I did go to a conference that the district paid for me for the conference, but I paid for my own travel," she told the committee, adding that PSBA’s wording made her "feel really comfortable." She said PSBA also offered additional suggested language on AI, bullying and harassment the district may want to adopt.
The committee took a procedural vote to move the social‑media policy to the Feb. 19 full‑board voting agenda; the motion passed in committee. No public speakers objected during the work session, and the chair said posting the policy ahead of the vote counted as the required public reading.
Committee members agreed the social‑media policy could be adopted next week but asked staff to return a separate, more detailed AI‑use policy for committee review. Administrators were asked to track any substantive wording changes recommended by PSBA before the voting meeting.
The committee closed its segment after approving the procedural motion. The policy will be on the Feb. 19 agenda for final board action.
