Student rep outlines Winterfest, blood drive results; district honors multiple students of the month

Principals then presented student-of-the-month recognitions across multiple schools. Kelly Millenon, who identified herself as principal at Dowagiac Union High School, presented the high school student of the month and noted the district will distribute certificates and T-shirts to recipients. Other principals appearing in open session included Mr. Guernsey (Dowagiac Middle School), Ryan Zelo (Kinshel Elementary), Brian Henry (Justice Gage Elementary), Alicia Stout (Sister Lakes Elementary) and teachers such as Mackenzie Mrozek and Stephanie Hill, each introducing a student and summarizing why they were chosen for the honor.
The recognitions emphasized academic achievement, leadership and community involvement; the board took a brief recess for photos before resuming business. No policy decisions or votes were taken on these items during the open session portion recorded in the transcript.
