Supporters emphasized the role of local officers in creating a positive relationship with students: "These are the officers that these kids have to interact with... to see them in a light that is favorable," a committee member said. Trustees recognized the difficulty of quantifying long-term prevention outcomes but said layered instruction from multiple presenters can be valuable.
The committee moved the item to the full board agenda for next week. Staff said they will follow up with details on payment flow and any possible online-safety curriculum enhancements.
