Mr. Gallagher explained the work is capital in nature and compared technology replacement to replacing aging plumbing: "as technology speeds grow our equipment has to be upgraded," he said. A staff estimate discussed at the meeting suggested roughly $300,000 for one project and $200,000 for the other; the board discussed the option of doing both at once or staging them over multiple summers.
Committee members agreed the work is important but that sequencing and budget timing should be weighed against other capital priorities (sewer, HVAC and doors). The committee moved its items to the full board for a vote next week so trustees can consider funding and scheduling decisions alongside other capital needs.
