Denison council approves $1.2M pay application for wellness center, adopts police wage resolution

The council also approved Change Order #14 for the project, $4,299.00, and declined Change Order #15. Separately, the council amended a Precor fitness-equipment quote for the wellness center from $221,229.08 to $225,784.58; City Manager Garcia said the original quote was missing two pieces of equipment.
The council adopted Resolution #2025‑49, setting wages for sergeant, detective and police officer positions for fiscal year 2025–2026 (introduced by Logan; adopted by motion). The resolution number was read into the record; the transcript does not specify the wage amounts in the meeting minutes.
Council approved a bid from Wulf Tree for tree removal at $6,500.00 by motion of Granzen, seconded by Logan. The council also tabled resolutions to adopt updated employee handbooks for general staff and for Public Works.
City Manager Garcia reported that staff will attend the League of Cities conference, a municipal infraction court date is scheduled next week, departments are preparing for BBQ Fest, and a special council meeting is set for Sept. 23, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. Trick-or-Treat was scheduled for Oct. 31, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Council asked that street cracks be filled on 20th Street and 1st Avenue South. The meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
