Denison council tables Donna Reed and tourism agreements pending additional information
Summary
Council tabled a proposed development agreement with the Donna Reed Foundation pending confirmation of legal rights to the Donna Reed name and also tabled the Tourism & Convention Business Services Agreement while requesting more detail on promoted events.
Two separate agreement items were tabled by the Denison City Council on Oct. 7.
Council tabled the Donna Reed Foundation development agreement after staff noted language allowing the City to use the Donna Reed name in promotions; the council asked staff to obtain information on legal rights to the name before taking further action. The motion to table carried unanimously.
Separately, the Chamber’s request to continue a Tourism & Convention Business Services Agreement was tabled after council members asked for more detail on which events are promoted and the value of the services. That motion also carried unanimously.
Both items will return to a future meeting once staff provides the legal clarifications and program details the council requested.
