The Denison City Council discussed and recommended one year of rent forgiveness for Majestic Hills Golf Course on Oct. 21 to give the course time to pay off a loan and replace aging equipment. The council directed staff to prepare a resolution amending the lease agreement and indicated the parties will renegotiate lease terms in October 2026.
Council members discussed the request during regular agenda review; the council’s recommendation was framed as temporary relief to stabilize the golf course’s finances. City Manager Garcia told the council she will prepare a resolution to formalize the amendment.
Council did not vote on a finalized amendment at the meeting; the record shows direction to draft a resolution and a plan to revisit the lease in October 2026. Any rent forgiveness ordinance or formal lease change will require a subsequent motion and an adopted resolution.
