The Denison City Council on Oct. 7 set a public hearing for Oct. 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. to consider a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).
Region XII described a program under which the grant would acquire and rehabilitate four properties. IEDA requires the City to serve as the pass-through entity while Region XII would administer the grant; proceeds of any subsequent property sales would be returned to the State of Iowa under program rules. The City must provide a local match of $15,000 per house, which can be paid from Low-to-Moderate Income funds.
Council adopted Resolution #2025-53 to set the public hearing and directed staff to prepare a letter and resolution of support as required by the application process. The public hearing will provide an opportunity for residents to comment on the proposed use of CDBG funds and the required local match.
