Nick Hansen of the City Parks Department told the Business Improvement District board on March 17 that new restrooms are being installed across public parks and Christensen Fields ballparks are being redone, and that the city is partnering with Sifferings to provide 60 trees to the community. Hansen said the city currently has more than 100 seasonal jobs open and encouraged referrals for applicants age 15 and older.
Board members flagged recurring pet-waste issues near the 505 Apartments and discussed installing dog-waste bag dispensers at trashcans in affected locations; Lainey Paquette agreed to work with Hansen to identify preferred sites. The board took no formal action on dog-waste stations at the meeting, recording the item as follow-up for staff coordination.
Lainey Paquette also presented the MainStreet report: sculptures are scheduled to be installed the first week of May, and a MainStreet-organized 'party in the park' is planned for June 27 with Dillon Bloom and other bands. Separately, the meeting record notes an outstanding $12,940 bill for Christmas garland and broader concerns about sustaining downtown flowers and green-space maintenance if donor funding declines.
No binding policy changes were made; the board authorized a modest installation budget elsewhere in the meeting and recorded follow-up directions for staff to coordinate installations and public-space maintenance.
