The Lago Vista Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend an ordinance that strikes the word “pocket” from subsection e(7) of Chapter 14, section 20 — the city’s pre‑tree preservation and landscaping requirement.
Jordan Stromeyer, Development Services staff, told the commission the change was requested by City Council and that the ordinance is a narrow edit: “This ordinance does exactly that. No added fluff, no other terms and conditions. It’s just striking the word pocket.” She said public notices have been posted and, if forwarded, the item is scheduled for the June 4 City Council meeting.
A commissioner moved to approve the ordinance “to be assigned a number” and another commissioner seconded the motion; the commission then voted unanimously in favor. The chair said the motion will be forwarded to Council as recommended.
The amendment is a text change only; staff did not present additional policy changes during the hearing. The commission’s recommendation means the City Council will consider the ordinance at its next available meeting, where councilmembers may adopt, modify, or decline the proposed change.
