The county manager briefed the board that Mount Graham Regional Medical Center was seeking letters from local governments and fire departments to accompany its application. "They have been requesting letters of support from all the government agencies as well as fire departments and and several other organizations throughout the community," the county manager said.
Board discussion emphasized the county’s intent to support additional ambulance capacity, not to replace existing services. As the chair summarized: the addition of ambulances "would strengthen the county's EMS system and enhance healthcare" and the letter stresses that the request is for additional service and does not seek rescission of any existing certificate of necessity.
Board members noted prior support letters from the town of Thatcher, Town of Pima and city of Safford. The board moved and approved the county sending a letter in support of Mount Graham’s application.
