Interim City Manager Amy Palmer and staff described the Northern Force Main project as a system improvement to connect the city's Master 559 lift station and several smaller force mains to a new Pace Road lift station, creating additional system capacity before wastewater reaches the regional treatment facility. Staff said the project location for Phase I is Old Berkley Road between C. Fred Jones Boulevard and Berkley Knights Drive; Phase II would later connect Phase I to the Pace Road master lift station.
The project had been budgeted at $2.8 million for FY 2024/2025; staff and the city's consulting engineer reviewed ten bids and recommended the low bidder, Tri‑Sure Corporation, which has completed prior utility projects for the city. The commission voted to award the project to Tri‑Sure Corporation for $977,600.
The award authorizes the city to move forward with the contractor selection for Phase I; staff said further design and later phases will follow the city's procurement and permitting processes.
