Auburndale commission approves first reading of FY2024–25 budget amendment
Summary
On Nov. 17 the Auburndale City Commission approved on first reading Ordinance No. 1840 to amend the FY2024–25 annual budget to appropriate unanticipated revenue and expenditures; second and final reading is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2025.
Finance Director Christopher Reeder told the Auburndale City Commission on Nov. 17 that, in line with Florida law and audit practice, the city needs an ordinance to amend the Fiscal Year 2024–2025 budget because unanticipated revenue and expenditures arose after adoption.
Reeder summarized the proposed adjustments and said the level of budget control remains at the fund level as established in Ordinance No. 1026. City Attorney Frederick J. Murphy Jr. read Ordinance No. 1840 by title.
Commissioner Jordan Helms moved and Commissioner Bill Sterling seconded to approve the ordinance on first reading; the motion carried with "all ayes." If approved on second reading, the amendment will be effective after final adoption on Dec. 1, 2025.
The ordinance was prepared by the Finance Director and reviewed by the City Manager and City Attorney; the commission did not receive public comment on the item during the meeting.
