The Inglewood Planning Commission approved a special‑use permit for outdoor dining and an event center at Doolin’s Soul Food Kitchen (SUP26‑00013).
Planner Angel Leon Martel described the proposal to convert an existing walkway into a roughly 500‑square‑foot patio with a four‑foot wall and plexiglass paneling, add awnings and extend interior event capacity; as conditioned, the staff report requires plan check review to confirm accessibility and parking details. "As conditioned, the proposed project will serve as an enhancement to its neighborhood setting and will continue to be compatible with the surrounding area," Martel said.
Owner Terry Doolin told the commission he received a grant under the Destination Market Street program to improve curb appeal and described the proposed patio and awnings as intended to improve accessibility and aesthetics. Commissioners praised the design and Doolin’s legacy as a long‑running local business.
With no public opposition on the record, the commission moved to approve the categorical exemption and adopt the resolution for SUP26‑00013; the motion passed by unanimous roll call. Staff reiterated that site plan review and building safety will address accessibility and any necessary permit requirements prior to construction.
