Mayor Brenda Bell-Guercio reported at the May 6 Indian Springs Village Town Council meeting that the Miss Oak Mountain Organization had requested the same donation as last year, $5,000, and that the amount was already in the town budget so no vote was required.
On a larger funding matter, the Oak Mountain Athletic Department Boosters Club has raised $75,000 toward a new scoreboard for Heardmont Park, which Mayor Bell-Guercio said carries an estimated price tag of $450,000. The mayor pledged that the town would provide $300,000 toward the scoreboard if the boosters were able to raise an additional $75,000.
Councilmember Herb Robins urged updating the Indian Springs Village website language for renting the Multipurpose Building and Pavilion to clarify that rental privileges are limited to residents. Robins said nonresident rentals have increased administrative work for the clerk's office and caused additional wear to town facilities.
Councilmember Robins also reported a broken street sign bracket had been damaged by a construction truck; a replacement has been ordered and the property owner offered to pay for the repair.
Procedurally, Councilmember Robins moved to approve the April 15, 2025 minutes and Councilmember Richard Harley seconded; with all in favor the motion carried. No additional budget votes were recorded for the scoreboard pledge during the meeting; the mayor presented the pledge as a conditional funding commitment contingent on the boosters' meeting their fundraising target.
The council adjourned at 7:31 p.m.
