The Public Works Committee on Wednesday authorized staff to coordinate with the township engineer to secure permits and informal contractor quotes for temporary stabilization measures for the High School Road retaining wall.
Staff presented Gannett Fleming’s assessment and the engineer’s recommendation to install grout/mortar bags beneath the wall and pump grout to stop further undermining. Project consultants said the temporary technique is expected to provide roughly five years of service depending on storm conditions, giving the township time to complete design, permitting and pursue available grants for a permanent repair.
Commissioners asked about grant eligibility and budget planning; staff said the township had already submitted one grant application for flood mitigation and planned to pursue additional grant opportunities. The committee approved the authorization by voice vote.
