FREETOWN — The Board of Selectmen approved a ClearGov budget‑software quote that town officials said will replace cumbersome manual budget books and improve public access to budget materials.
Town staff described the current process as paper intensive and error prone; officials said ClearGov will let the town present budget sheets digitally, better track transactions between departments and create an auditable trail for budget changes. The quote discussed in open session included an estimated $15,000 annual fee and an $8,500 setup charge; staff said funding for the purchase is available.
Board members approved the quote by motion and second and asked staff to begin the setup process so the system is ready for the next budget season.
