During the July 1 Services Committee update staff described several ongoing and upcoming public‑works and parks items.
Pavement: staff said crews repaired two failing patches on Golf Course Road near Milstone Drive using 5.5 tons of asphalt, five crew members and a rented roller, with no outside contractor. Staff noted this in‑house work could produce cost savings and said they would produce numbers for budget season.
Parks: staff reported a $375,000 earmark awarded for J.R. Smith Park that can fund sidewalk work, a path extension to the Ohio to Erie Trail, landscaping and asphalt around the Lions building, and other park improvements; parks will refine the allocation and schedule.
Planning and streets: the Columbus Street corridor study selection process yielded 12 submittals and staff expects to negotiate scope and fee and have a consultant on board within two to four weeks. For the 2026 street improvements project, Decker recently received contract paperwork but has not yet provided a firm schedule; staff asked that traffic-calming paint on North Mueller Drive be prioritized before school.
Wastewater: staff described progress at the wastewater treatment plant, highlighting an upcoming major excavation for a new 70‑foot‑diameter clarifier that will replace the equivalent of two existing 45‑foot clarifiers; digging and preparatory work have started.
The Services Committee closed the meeting with a motion to adjourn that was approved by roll call.
