The Town of Hampton will update its Stormwater Management Regulations and related ordinances with consultant assistance after a project kickoff in June 2026, according to the Master Plan Implementation Committee's June 24 minutes.
Town staff said the update will cover the regulations in the Site Plan Review and Subdivision Regulations and will include a review of the Floodplain Management Ordinance, Wetlands Conservation District Ordinance and Groundwater Protection Ordinance to ensure alignment with current federal and state requirements. The minutes say these regulations were last amended in 2007 and need critical updates to better protect the town.
Project partners listed in the minutes include Town Planner Jason Bachand, consultants (to be selected from a list provided by the Department of Public Works), Jen Hale and Joe Lynch, and other partners such as Brianna Hagan and the Planning Board. The town has secured one of SHEA—EMP's Small Grants to help fund the work.
Planned timeline in the minutes: project kickoff in June 2026; project landing page established July/August 2026; two community surveys (September—2026 and July—2027); three workgroup meetings and one public information meeting (November 2026, April 2027, September 2027); and an "Innovative Topics" stormwater utility meeting in June 2027.
The committee discussed community outreach and public-engagement events to gather resident input during the update process. MPIC will support outreach and education efforts as the Planning Board and Select Board consider any proposed regulatory changes.
