The Cicero Planning Board on July 1 approved storefront improvements for Holland Farms at 5866 State Route 31 after the applicant revised signage, lighting and exterior details to address architecture-review comments.
Christian Freeman of Kathling and Freeman Associates told the board the sign faces were adjusted to remain just under the maximum area allowed by code and that previously noncompliant residential-style fixtures were replaced with dark‑sky–compliant fixtures per the approved photometric plan. The proposal also calls for replacing a worn wood dumpster enclosure with a vinyl unit and adding black metal awnings and a corner panel to satisfy an architecture review comment.
Board members thanked the applicant for responding to prior requests and asked about landscape planter boxes and buffering costs; Freeman said trees and buffering will be provided and that remaining plan details will be finalized during architectural review and permitting. The board moved and adopted a resolution incorporating the submitted elevations and standard conditions.
Planning staff will supply a comments list and coordinate any outstanding architectural requirements.
