Assistant Superintendent Dr. Balin, the district's Chief Academic Officer, presented the 33‑page plan. The presentation said the professional learning program is modified annually to reflect state and local requirements, district initiatives including the Strategic Plan and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Plan, and faculty feedback. The plan lists contracted entities and individuals who may provide Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) activities to improve teaching and leadership skills.
On policy matters the board conducted first readings of Policy 7616 (pre‑referral intervention strategies in general education) and Policy 7212 (response to intervention process). The board voted to postpone the second reading and adoption of those policies to the August 11, 2026 meeting. The board also held a second reading and approved Policy 7224 (virtual instruction) and approved the district's code of conduct as presented.
Board members asked no substantive follow‑up questions on the Professional Learning Plan during the meeting; the district indicated stakeholder groups and building teams were consulted in plan development.
The board will take up postponed policy items at its August 11 meeting.
