The Wilson County Planning Commission on Jan. 16, 2026, unanimously approved a site plan for a monument sign for Amazon at 1301 Richard Petty Way (parcel 141/026.05, Commission District 12) and affirmed three plats subject to staff and agency comments.
Staff read recommendations for the Amazon site plan in a C-4 zoned property; Member Renfro moved approval, Member Turner seconded, and the motion passed with all voting aye. The site plan approval is conditional on the listed staff recommendations.
Following the site plan vote, Member Renfro moved and Member Weathers seconded affirmation of several plats. The Commission affirmed the following plats subject to staff recommendations and compliance with Stormwater, Engineering, County Fire Marshall, and Utility District comments:
- Subdivision of a portion of William P. Baskin Property (1 lot), 1579 W Richmond Shop Rd, parcel 123/01.17, Commission District 12 (Haskell Evans), zoned A-1. - Resubdivision of Crutcher & Blankenship Properties (2 lots), 1050 Eastover Rd, parcels 082/92.00, 94.01, Commission District 7 (Terry Scruggs), zoned R-1. - Final of Cindi Thomas Property (2 lots), 4700 Franklin Rd, parcels 093/30.00, 30.03, Commission District 12 (Haskell Evans), zoned A-1.
The approvals were recorded as affirmations "subject to staff recommendations" and compliance with agency comments; minutes indicate staff and technical agencies (Stormwater, Engineering, County Fire Marshall, Utility District) will confirm final compliance before recording or permitting actions.
Member Ashe also raised concerns about an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) amendment passed in December, reporting constituent feedback on that change. County Attorney Mike Jennings briefly noted ongoing litigation connected to the Parkside sketch plan. With no further business, the Commission adjourned.
