Scott council adopts resolution for temporary traffic signal at Eraste Landry and Westgate

The Scott Mayor and City Council on Jan. 30, 2020 adopted Resolution 2020-4 authorizing the mayor to sign a contract with Ernest P. Breaux Electrical, L.L.C. to install a temporary traffic signal at the intersection of Eraste Landry and Westgate roads.
Ms. Anna Doucet, with Fenstermaker and Associates, told the council the signal would be temporary "for about a year and a half in order to help with the influx of traffic because of the Dulles Road closure." She said the installation will be span wire on a wooden pole and will include turn arrow signals. Work was scheduled to start the week of Feb. 3 and was expected to take about two to three weeks to install, weather permitting; restriping of road markings will also be done.
Councilman Boudreaux moved to adopt the resolution; Councilman Hollier seconded the motion, which "carried by majority," according to the minutes. The minutes do not record a roll-call tally of individual votes. The meeting adjourned at 12:20 p.m.
The resolution authorizes the mayor to execute the contract and directs staff to proceed with the installation timeline described by Fenstermaker and Associates. The signal is presented in the minutes as a temporary measure tied to traffic changes resulting from the nearby Dulles Road closure.
