Fairhope council approves multiple procurements, contracts and change orders

Key approvals included: procurement of an Indazaco environmental absorber system for the Highway 181 lift station (sole-source purchase not to exceed $33,800 plus shipping); selection of Krebs Engineering for supplemental air installation at the wastewater treatment plant (not-to-exceed fee to be negotiated); an award to Roof Doctors for a steel structure over the RAS pump station (not to exceed $49,184); authorization of a $77,650 contract for phase two engineering on the Pecan Watershed drainage improvements with Jade Consulting; amendment No. 3 to the Watershed contract for Nature Center rehabilitation adding $10,850 (paid by surety); a $43,652 change order for Magnolia Beach restoration and stabilization (raising the contract total to $538,364); selection of Grid Co for a joint-use attachment survey and GIS entry; award to Persons Services Corp for disaster-relief services (Tent City 2026) with activation-based pricing; and a walk-on award to Tindall Construction LLC for the James P. Nix Center Promenade and improvement project (not to exceed $170,417.30).
Councilors confirmed that many of these items were discussed in work sessions and that funding sources or professional evaluations were used to recommend selections. Several items were noted as under formal bid thresholds (less than $100,000) and therefore handled through quotes or sole-source justification. Each resolution passed as recorded in the meeting.
What happens next: Mayor Sullivan and designated staff will execute contracts and negotiate not-to-exceed fees where authorized; several projects will proceed to implementation and staff will manage procurement documentation and public notices as required.
